History
A document dating back to the 12th century calls it "Santa
Margherita di Pescino". Indeed, in the following centuries
this location was divided into two villages, Pescino and Corte.
In the heart of the village you can admire Villa Durazzo, a wonderful
15th century building owned by the families Durazzo-Pallavicino.
It also belonged to the prince Centruione and to the family Chierichetto,
who sold it to the Municipality of Santa Margherita Ligure.
Also dating from the same period is the castle, situated near
the sea. There are some remarkable churches too, including the
Basilica of Santa Margherita di Antiochia, a baroque structure
containing works by Genoese masters.
